This article addresses the following topics: first, the functioning of the Inter- American human rights system, the functions and attributions of the organs of the system, namely: Inter-American Commission and Court of Human Rights, the process of a contentious case before the Commission and the Court. Subsequently, an analysis of the regulatory evolution of the Inter-American Court and a study on the execution and compliance with the judgments of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights is carried out. An study of the concept of transitional justice is also carried out, and how this has been defined and analyzed in the jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court, and then a brief study the role of the Inter- American Court in matters of justice, truth and reparations. Finally, an analysis of the concept of impunity is carried out in the light of the jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and concludes, with the study of the duty to investigate violations of human rights by States, as well as amnesties in the light of the jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court.
