The Journal of the Brazilian Institute for Human Rights (RIBDH) is an academic periodical dedicated to the promotion of teaching, research and dissemination of knowledge in the area of Human Rights, with special attention to the challenges, advances and perspectives of the Brazilian, Latin American and global reality. It pursues the objective of contributing to the consolidation of a legal, political and social culture guided by the dignity of the human being, democracy, material equality, social justice and the effectiveness of fundamental rights. The journal publishes academic articles, essays and studies of high academic quality, aimed at critical, interdisciplinary reflection and committed to the strengthening of Human Rights in its multiple dimensions.

As editorial lines, the RIBDH welcomes works related to topics such as civil and political rights; social, economic, cultural and environmental rights; diffuse and collective rights; democracy and the rule of law; vulnerable groups and inclusion policies; public policies on human rights; material equality and intersectionality; migrations, refuge and statelessness; international and regional human rights protection systems; environment and climate change; memory, truth, justice, reparations and guarantees of non-recurrence. The journal thus seeks to constitute itself as a qualified space for the production and dissemination of critical thinking, bringing together relevant contributions to the academic and institutional debate in the field of Human Rights.

It is one of the main journals in Brazil in the area of human rights. With an annual publication, the Journal has been published since 1999, being one of the longest-lived Brazilian journals on the subject.  It has since been an important resource for the academic community and human rights practitioners.
